Sunrise in a cruise

I saw plenty sunrises and sunsets at sea during my Navy career. The most calming sound was at night during a full moon and the smoothest sea. You can just hear the soft slicing of the ocean at the bow. Then there was the other extreme riding out a typhoon in the pacific. Now that was a wild ride. And I still miss all of it. Same experience every single day on my balcony at home. However , I find the ocean waves noise a nuisance to my sleep. I miss the train in the distance where I lived before. Different strokes as they say.

I dare you!

Next time you are on a cruise (whether you book it with me or not!), get up early on a sea day. I mean early like 5am before the sun comes up.

If you have a significant other on this cruise with you get them up and drag them with you!

Grab a cup of coffee, juice, or water and head out on the pool deck. Find a spot where you won't be likely to be disturbed. Avoid the walking/jogging track and anywhere near the pool or a bar.

Now sit down on a chair or a lounger and position it so you most of your view is the ocean and then just be still. Hold hands with your SO if you want, grab a sip of your drink occasionally but for the most part, just relax and take it all in.

Listening to the ocean and the breeze, watching the darkness turn to gray and then brilliant blues.

Seeing the sun pop up above the horizon for the first time. Seeing the reds, oranges, and yellows in the sky as the sun rises.

There is no experience like it!
