For some reason our cabin steward held onto our sheet thinking he would be servicing our room on disembarkation day before dinner.
You will get a sheet of paper that has a few number color tags. This sheet spells out the entire process. It's basically the same for every port.
You can use the app to request additional tags.
I bring address stickers (I printed at home). I stick one of the address labels on every colored tag. I put a luggage tag on every handle of every bag and suitcase. I always get extra tags.
I put all the bags with their color number tag in the hall the last night. I take a photo. This photo is used if we need help locating a bag amongst the 1000s of other bags.
Simply pull up the photo and point to the missing piece. (An air tag in your bag, is not useful when you know your bag is in the room and you need to describe your bag to another person.)
Another guest added that, "Just remember, the time you request is not always the time they actually let you off. We requested 7:50 on our last cruise. At 8:20 we were still waiting in the dining room waiting for our color to be called. I finally talked to the staff and they allowed us to go as we had to be on a tour bus by 8:30. We barely made it. They said there we so many people doing Princess excursions that they were letting them off first and the gangway was too busy to call the colors on time. Next time I will self carry."
while another on suggested, "Very Useful information, but self-carry off if you are able to. No putting out the night before , no worries about finding your bags and no problem in working out what to leave out to wear off the on ship the following morning."
Pesonally, I have been held up more than once because the elevator lines got crazy long because so many couldn't navigate those huge rollers down the escalator. My wheelchair doesn't go down an escalator. Picking up you luggage is a efficient process that has worked for decades.
Another contibutor said, "New feature. You can now fill out the form and your luggage goes directly tp your airline flight. Don’t have to claim your luggage until you get home. Works great! There are only certain ports that do that where you fill out the form and put your suitcases out and they check your suitcases for you.
A top contibutor clarified that "Seattle and Ft Lauderdale are the only ports.. Seattle is free. Seattle, domestic flights before 11pm or midnight same day. Added bonus, no overweight charges. I used this year's ago in Seattle, its not new. Seattle picks up the tab to cut back on airport congestion. Lots of ships."
